Making people's lives better

This page provides an overview of our CSR initiatives - actions that create value for both our company and the communities in which we operate. We firmly believe in the power of shared value, benefiting all our stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, clients, governments, shareholders, partners, and society as a whole.
Human Resources

Training on the job

At the beginning of our new Sioen Talents’ careers, we always offer on-the-job training. This practical training helps them to get to know the job with useful tips and tricks. Participation in both internal and external trainings is encouraged.

Coolbox

Veranneman installed the Coolbox, a communications hub that provides a place for meetings and for monitoring the loom data.

Ergonomic tools

Erroneous, prolonged and heavy lifting can lead to back problems. That is why we opted for ergonomic lifting equipment that puts less strain on the user. At Veranneman Technical Textiles, for example, we have added lifting aid to move the bobbins.

AED

Sioen installed AED units (Automated external defibrillators) at places where many people can come together, such as in the showrooms at our Ardooie headquarters. In case of emergency, we want to have the adequate tools to help a person in distress.

Annual Sioen cycling tour

We stimulate our employees to live in a healthy way and we support our Sioen Talents’ initiatives, such as the annual Sioen cycling tour and running for charity. A healthy body and mind is what we strive for.

Fitbees project

With the Fitbees project, we want to stimulate our employees to live healthier in a playful way. In addition, it promotes team spirit. Each participant can choose for himself or herself which goal they want to achieve after 9 weeks of training.

Women @ Sioen

The company Sioen is owned by the family Sioen. The three sisters Michèle, Danielle and Pascale Sioen manage the company with a great vision and strategy. Moreover, over 60% of all employees of Sioen are female.

Workspace transparency is vital

We're sharing information freely. Our workspace transparency creates trust between employer and employees, increases employee engagement and boosts performance.

Quiet zones

We’re installing unique quiet zones in and around our production units. We're convinced that offering our people a quiet place contributes to their wellbeing

B2Bike

Sioen employees can cycle to work with a leased bicycle, thanks to B2Bike.

Sioen Family Day

We're organising the annual Sioen family day on the Sioen HQ premises. Food, drinks and activities for young and old. A day full of pleasure and great informal contacts.

Art in the office

By adding art to our offices and meeting rooms, we aim to improve the working environment.

Tap water systems

We have installed Aqualex machines, tap water systems at our HQ. Tap water isn’t only the healthiest drink, but it is also the most environmentally friendly, as bottled water or drinks in other small containers are 10.000 times worse.

Improving mobility

We produce technical textiles and professional protective clothing that contribute to improving infrastructure. They are used both in the production and in the products themselves in cars, trailers, roads, bicycles, trains, ...

Enjoyable workplace

At Sioen, we strive for a family atmosphere throughout our departments worldwide. We go for a personal approach, and we try to make sure that every employee can develop himself 100%. With us, the employee comes first.

Superior working conditions

We offer superior working conditions in all our plants. We're proud of our plants and of the people who work here. Together, we lift Sioen higher.

Internships

We currently offer internships in all departments of our company, ranging from textile engineering, logistics, marketing to finance and general business management. We collaborate with local schools and universities to help students grow.

Our gardens redesigned

Sioen has signed the Green Deal Companies and Biodiversity. We have redesigned the plants at our HQ to create more shade, we plant more native climate-adaptive species, we create wildflower meadows and we attract more birds and insects.

Green rest zones

We try to enjoy our outdoors facilities as much as possible. The green zones at our sites are perfect to relax during a lunch break, for example. In addition, they are a safe haven for plants, insects and birds.

Ergonomic desks

We are running a pilot project with height-adjustable desks. We are studying to what extent they are used and which effect they have on our people’s well-being. It allows people to decide for themselves when to work standing up or sitting down.

Breast cancer screening

We are screening our Indonesian female staff for breast and cervical cancer. We aim to create awareness by organising seminars in close collaboration with the Thamrin Hospital and with Pan Pacific Life Insurance.
