Making people's lives better

An overview of all the CSR-related things we do. They show how a concerted focus on CSR benefit both the company and the communities in which we operate. We believe deeply in this potential of shared value for all our stakeholders, whether they are employees, suppliers, clients, governments, shareholders, partners, local communities, or society as a whole.

Sioen supports TAJO

Sioen sponsors TAJO, an initiative for vulnerable young people. Only people who get chances can take them.

Maggie Program

Sioen supports the non-profit organisation “Maggie Program”, a circular, sustainable and inclusive concept of pop-up schools for children worldwide.

Human rights and SDGs

Sioen supports Human Rights through SDGs, taking the OHCHR as general guideline in all its operations.

Lunch & Learn

During our Lunch & Learn meetings, colleagues and external speakers can inspire us by exchanging experiences. Previous themes were healthy nutrition, bicycle maintenance and ergonomics. With the workshop comes a lunch and a drink in good company.

Youth employment

We’re encouraging youth employment. Young people should get equal opportunities. When starting at Sioen, you get an on-the-job practical training that helps you to swiftly start your career at a large international company.

Lifelong learning

On-the-job learning trajectories and lunch and learn activities empower Sioen employees. These initiatives are part of the lifelong learning vision of Sioen.

Training on the job

At the beginning of our new Sioen Talents’ careers, we always offer on-the-job training. This practical training helps them to get to know the job with useful tips and tricks. Participation in both internal and external trainings is encouraged.

Robot Camp

Sioen supports ‘Robot camp’, a local project of a school in Poperinge (Belgium). During this summer holiday initiative, students can improve in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) by building a robot.

Assisting students

We’re supporting students the whole year round, offering them help with master theses and projects, and we guide them through internships in one of the many departments of our company.

Colouring solutions for paint for the local arts school

After updating the Sioen Chemicals booth in the showroom, Sioen donated about 300 bottles of dye to the art academy in Tielt. The dye will be used in various art projects.

Rising You

Sioen supports the NGO Rising You, an organisation that helps refugees in Belgium to integrate and to find a job.

Save the Children

Our Siorom plant in Romania supports the local organisation “Save the children” with regular donations. In May we donated T-shirts.

Supporting Yuca

At Sioen, supporting youth is an integral part of the vision and mission of the company. Yuca, Youth for Change and Action encourages our youth to work together towards a sustainable and just society. Every year we employ some student volunteers.

Internships

We currently offer internships in all departments of our company, ranging from textile engineering, logistics, marketing to finance and general business management. We collaborate with local schools and universities to help students grow.

Part of Vlerick Board of Directors

Our CEO, Michele Sioen, is part of the Vlerick board of directors. This is a triple-accredited, international business school at the heart of Europe (number 1 in Benelux and 19 in Europe) for executive education.

Industry museum Ghent

Sioen supports Industriemuseum Gent by donating several items from the different product ranges for the exhibition “100% textile”. Multiple samples of Sioen’s technical textiles and a firefighter suit are displayed in the museum.

Iasa school Romania

We believe that all children should have access to school supplies. Our production plant in Romania provides the local children in the village of Iasa with everything they need for the first day of school. This includes pens, paper, books, etc.

Waterfront event

We contributed to the Waterfront event to commemorate the victims who lost their lives in the spring of 1918. The fabric of the boats and cutting them into DIY kits is a Sioen realisation. The boats had messages of peace on the sails.

Green sensibilisation in our company

A project is running at Sioen headquarters to make our people aware of the sustainability initiatives running in the offices and meeting rooms. From things such as light sensors to brewing our own sparkling water, this photo reportage makes it clear.
