Making people's lives better

An overview of all the CSR-related things we do. They show how a concerted focus on CSR benefit both the company and the communities in which we operate. We believe deeply in this potential of shared value for all our stakeholders, whether they are employees, suppliers, clients, governments, shareholders, partners, local communities, or society as a whole.

Award: Biodiversity Award

Sioen wins bronze with its revolutionary textiles Algaetex and GreenTecStyles for cultivating plants and seaweed at the Belgian Business Award of the Environment #BBAE at VBO-FEB in Brussels #sustainibility #durability #circulareconomy #future

Our gardens redesigned

Sioen has signed the Green Deal Companies and Biodiversity. We have redesigned the plants at our HQ to create more shade, we plant more native climate-adaptive species, we create wildflower meadows and we attract more birds and insects.

Planting trees

Every year, we plant trees at our Indonesian production facility that provide shade and that serve as the natural lungs of the area. At our Ardooie headquarters, we have recently transplanted 15 large trees from one area to another.

Supporting a wind farm in the Phillipines

Our Brand Dimension Polyant combines the Clean Oceans project with a Gold Standard climate protection project, a wind farm in the Philippines, to achieve certified emission reduction. With every ton of CO2, 10 kg plastic waste is compensated.

Supporting ‘Plastic Free Oceans'

The project we support with our brand Dimension-Polyant to compensate all remaining emissions, prevents plastic waste from entering the sea and thus indirectly protects the climate.

Green rest zones

We try to enjoy our outdoors facilities as much as possible. The green zones at our sites are perfect to relax during a lunch break, for example. In addition, they are a safe haven for plants, insects and birds.

Geotextiles for water bassins, dams and canals

We produce geotextiles that are used in coastal and river erosion protection to construct large water basins, dams and canals among others. Geotextiles have the ability to separate, filter, protect, or drain and are indispensable in any construction.

Fabrics for sewer renovation

We produce nonwovens and scrims that are used for CIPP in sewer renovation. CIPP stands for Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) in pipeline repair. The principle consists of inserting a felt lining into a pre-existing pipe that is the subject of repair.

Fabrics for reef protection

There's care needed to preserve and protect coral reefs during dredging activities. We produce fabrics that are used to protect the reef from mud and blown sand. The first type of fabric serves as a curtain, the latter keeps these curtains affloat.

Recycling options for coated technical textiles

Our coated technical textiles can easily be repaired and often have second and even third lives. At the end of life, there are several recycling options.

How today's products become tomorrows raw materials

We’re reclaiming raw materials from waste. This offers both environmental and economic benefits. Today’s products become tomorrow’s raw materials.

Control 75% of value chain

We manage 75% of the entire industrial value chain, from yarn to finished product. This allows us to check the quality and durability regularly and to make improvements on a regular basis. We can also respond quickly to customer needs.

ISO 50001

Dimension-Polyant, part of the Sioen Group, is compliant with the ISO 50001 standards.

Textiles for desludging and dewatering

We produce coated textiles and geotextiles for removing fine sediments from sites and for dewatering of waste water and sludge water. Our range includes wovens, scrims, nonwovens, films, sheets and coated textiles for industrial sanitation.

Fabrics and garments for renewable energy

Sioen is producing technical textiles and protective clothing for biogas, seaweed and windmill activities.

Waterfront event

We contributed to the Waterfront event to commemorate the victims who lost their lives in the spring of 1918. The fabric of the boats and cutting them into DIY kits is a Sioen realisation. The boats had messages of peace on the sails.

Green sensibilisation in our company

A project is running at Sioen headquarters to make our people aware of the sustainability initiatives running in the offices and meeting rooms. From things such as light sensors to brewing our own sparkling water, this photo reportage makes it clear.

Biobased and biodegradable

Sioen’s R&D team searches for biobased and biodegradable solutions and takes part in a range of EU projects.

Seaweed cultivation

Our R&D team is actively looking for sustainable aquaculture solutions. As part of the EU AT~SEA project, Sioen developed textile mats and nets on which seaweed can be cultivated. The fabric has been deployed and tested in Norway and Ireland.
